Special Insert: Capture and Scanning in Government
From the President

QAI would like to welcome the following new customers...

Department of Defense (DOD) TRICARE Management Activity (TMA)

QAI contracted with the DOD/TMA to provide a project and development plan for the upgrade of agency’s current document capture sub-system. The existing system was based on a desktop-class scanning package consisting of two high-speed scanners that processed a total of about 10,000 hard-copy pages per month. QAI took into consideration the current capture processes and government-provided equipment, and consequently structuring the solution to take advantage of these existing investments. The plan consisted of the purchase and delivery of the sub-system upgrade, hardware and software products, installation/integration of all products, and product training and consultation at the TMA facility.

The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC)

The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) turned to QAI for their microfilm conversion project. DTIC has an immediate and ongoing requirement to digitize documents in the technical report collection that reside on microfilm. QAI is providing hardware and software products as well as technical expertise for the streamlined microfilm conversion process, which includes digitally converted PDF files on DVDs.

Academy for Educational Development (AED)

QAI was contracted by the Academy for Educational Development (AED) to provide a project and development plan for the conversion of hard-copy documents. AED was looking for a reputable, local firm to handle the off-site document conversion effort, which includes materials pickup and delivery, document preparation, scanning, quality control, file-naming, and PDF conversion. As part of this plan, QAI personnel are performing all of the document preparation procedures required for scanning the documents. Once scanning has been completed, QAI will then deliver the converted document images, in the requested PDF format, on a series of DVDs to AED.
