Why Address Section 508?
Section 508 legislature, which became mandatory in June 2001, states that all hardware, software, and websites for all federal government agencies (?) be accessible to all persons with disabilities. Addressing these issues will resolve the revenue loss, potential legal action, and compliance risks created by inaccessible IT systems. This will transform accessibility from a liability into a competitive advantage for your federal sales teams.
However, trying to navigate solutions for this law is often frustrating and confusing. Completing the VPAT for federal procurement may bring more questions than answers. In assessing products in your organization you should work with a company that understands accessibility issues. In fact, any company that sells hardware or software to the federal government must comply with these regulations in order for their product to be procured.

Department of Defense (DOD) TRICARE Management Activity (TMA)
QAI contracted with the DOD/TMA to provide a project and development plan for the upgrade of agency’s current document capture sub-system. The existing system was based on a desktop-class scanning package consisting of two high-speed scanners that processed a total of about 10,000 hard-copy pages per month. QAI took into consideration the current capture processes and government-provided equipment, and consequently structuring the solution to take advantage of these existing investments. The plan consisted of the purchase and delivery of the sub-system upgrade, hardware and software products, installation/integration of all products, and product training and consultation at the TMA facility.
